My Brother's Wedding

It was 15 July 2011, Friday. A historical date for my family, especially my brother, Bang Lang and his fiancee, Ann. They waited for so long for the day. It was their wedding day. They got married at the office of Jabatan Agama Islam Seremban with a 'wali hakim' (because Ann's father is not a Muslim). The solemnization was attended by only close family members. My aunts, uncles, cousins, and also my parents's aunts and uncles. Ann’s parents didn't attend it. They will come later during the reception which will be held, inshaAllah, this October. We video called with Ann's mom and cousin, using my Iphone and they witnessed the solemnization online from Cebu. Ann's mom didn't watch the 'akad nikah' part because she was too emotional to see it. She was touched to see her only daughter get married. She was crying. Her father was at work and didn't watch the wedding as well. Her cousin, however, watched the whole event.

The solemnizatiom was peaceful and calm. My brother, Bang Lang was also cool through out the wedding. The wedding was simple and everything was made easy. It went quickly. After the wedding and after they officially became husband and wife, everybody congratulated Bang Lang and Ann. My parents cried, tears of joy. Then, we had breakfast there and Bang Lang and Ann made a speech, each.

The speech was roughly about welcoming Ann to our family. Bang Lang also asked for everbody's help in guiding Ann in knowing Islam. Bang Lang also said, in case they make mistakes, everybody especially the elders, are free and welcome to give advice and correct them, no hard feelings.

So, the day went on. There will be a 'makan-makan' event on this 24th of July. People might call it 'kenduri doa selamat'. Well, I disagree. I call it 'kenduri makan-makan' to celebrate Bang Lang and Ann. Why do I disagree with the name? Well.. I'll explain it later in my next post, inshaAllah.

The October reception will be a bigger event. This event will involve all relatives and friends. It will be held somewhere in Seremban(let the place be a secret for now). 

Congratulations to Bang Lang and my new sister in-law, Putri Nur Marian, and may Allah bless u both always and bless our family. May Bang Lang be a soleh husband and Ann be a solehah wife, inshaAllah.
