We arrived at IQ around 8. Dr Asri was there, just finishing his zikir, I guess. He greeted us and brought us inside to meet a special person. Who was he?He was Ustaz Dr.Fadlan, one of the ulamaks who had entered UMNO last year. Lucky for us. Me, Bro Sham and Asifa prayed Maghrib with a few other guys. Then, the three of us went outside and stood beneath one of the trees, with Fuad, a friend of Bro Sham. We chatted until Isyak. Later on, after Isyak prayer, the lecture started. The lecture as per always, will highlight about doing ibadah acccording to Quran and Sunnah, nothing else. Besides that, Dr Asri also mentioned about syirik. He explained that a person's pahala will be rejected if the person believes in syirik. If u think about it, there are some people, especially veterans, although had performed hajj, when they come back, they still believe in things that are syirik. It is different if they come back doing sins like drinking, gambling and zina. Those sins will only add your sins. However, syirik makes your pahala that you already have, REJECTED. Scary isn't it?
Then, the lecture was continued by Dr.Fadlan. He kept on smiling because he knew that among the audience, there were some people who weren't comfortable with his presence. Could be, because of his UMNO involvement. He kept on saying that Islam teaches us to always have good impressions towards others. He could be referring it to himself, I guess.
Later on, after having a little chat with Bro Sham and Dr.Asri, I came to a conclusion that the reason for the 40 ulamaks to join UMNO was no other reason but in the name of dakwah and Sunnah, and to bring UMNO back to the right path. Maybe, if they fail, they might withdraw from the party, who knows. But at least, they tried. Just imagine if ulamaks from PAS get involved and try to correct the UMNO leaders, for sure UMNO won't listen. But when it comes to their own ulamaks, it might be different. The important thing is dakwah, not what party you embrace.
After the lecture, there was supper. It was held outside the building. We didn't join them. Bro Sham told me and Asifa to follow his lead. Then, we went into Dr.Asri's house(just beside IQ building), stayed in the living room and sat on the sofa. As we entered, we could see on the left, a big rack of books, well-organized. Bro Sham said, all of that were just only Sahih Bukhari. Wow!
There were Dr.Asri, Pian(his good friend), Dr.Fadlan, Bro Sham, Asifa, Fuad, me and a few of Dr.Fadlan's students that he brought from KL. It was like a private conversation where for the first time, I saw another side of Dr.Asri which I never saw before. Everything was informal and to be in the same room with them, was just priceless. They talked about spreading the Sunnah. InshaAllah, in a few years, we will see the changes. Dr. Fadlan and Dr.Asri are good friends. However, few days before, they both joined a talk and the topic involved 'demonstration'. Dr.Asri came out with his reasons/points to come with a conclusion that it is 'harus'. On the other hand, Dr. Fadlan came to a conclusion that it is 'haram'. So the debate was kind of hot between them. But, although they fought about that, it was a healthy fight and until now, they still remain friends. That was the part that made me respect them more. They were very professional and their different views didn't interfere in their friendship, alhamdulillah.

After that, me, Bro Sham and Asifa didn't stop there. We continued our chat at a mamak restaurant. Bro Fuad brought us there and we met Pian@Abu Na'im, Dr.Asri's right man. He is the person who updates Dr.Asri's blog, FB and social network. He was there since day one, way before Dr.Asri became famous. The good thing was, because of always being by Dr.Asri's side with other intellectuals, Pian himself, managed to pick up the knowledge from them and he himself, by the look of it, can be somebody you can refer to, when it comes to hadith and religion related questions. He talked with facts and not blindly.
We ended up finishing our chit chat around 3am and we pushed back to USJ. Due to high quantity of caffeine(two glasses of nescafe) in my body, I was not that sleepy. Bro Sham was exhausted, I could see it by the look of his face. I offered to drive and half way through, we changed seats, and I drove until USJ. We stopped at Sg Buloh R&R for Fajr Prayer.
I was very tired but the long journey to Penang and coming back, was worth it. It was a great feeling to be in the same room with famous intellectuals like Dr.Asri and Dr.Fadlan. Not to say, I'm obsess with them or what but it is a norm for a regular guy like me and Asifa to feel the excitement when being around famous people. Same goes to a guitarist who gets to be around Santana. Same goes to a football fan who gets to be around Ronaldo. Get what I mean?
By meeting intellectuals, it actually gives you more sprightliness to spread the Sunnah. Dakwah can be spread in many ways. By all means, use whatever medium to spread it. It might not touch many hearts but hoping at least, out of all out there, there is one person, listening to your preach, inshaAllah. Maybe it could make him/her to be a better person, who knows.
Keep on spreading the Sunnah, guys!
